First off, this idea is not actually “mine”. I’m sure smarter and more eloquent people out there are thinking and talking about it, but I’m dumb enough to put it out there.
This is my insane Orality Theory.
At the root, is Marshal McLuhan: “The media is the message” guy. In his thoughts of media ecology, how we interact with technology, and the technology we create changes us and rewires our brains. When we created the printing press, we kick-started a change in our minds that’s greater than reintroducing wolves in Yosemite. Well, now we have smartphones, podcasts, Alexa, and more… what is that doing to us?
